A banned motorist with 89 previous convictions has been jailed for eight months for driving while disqualified and injuring a dog.
It is the sixth time William Patrick Mervyn (53), of Oldpark Avenue, north Belfast, has been convicted of being behind the wheel of a car while banned from driving.
Belfast Crown Court heard that Meryvn's criminal record included 14 convictions for having no insurance, two for having no driving licence and five for careless driving.
The defendant had pleaded guilty to careless driving, having no insurance and driving whilst disqualified four years ago.
The court was told Mervyn was driving a Skoda Octavia on the Oldpark Road on March 9, 2011.
Belfast Recorder Judge David McFarland heard that police were trying to "control a pack of dogs'' in the area at the time when Mervyn drove into the incident, hitting one of the dogs, causing it minor injuries.
