Bar throws out poppy-wearing patrons

By Staff Reporter

A storm of protest has erupted after an Irish republican bar in Luton asked patrons wearing poppies to leave the premises.

And the town's Bar 32 pub added insult to injury by claiming the poppy was a terrorist symbol.

The bar - which offers a drink called an 'Ulster Bomber' - sparked outrage on social media.

Aidan Ward wrote on Facebook: "Pardon me, but when was the poppy a flower of terrorists? People from the Irish Republic are honoured as well by the poppy for their sacrifices."

Locals have pledged a boycott.According to Citiblog Luton, one local resident said: "I'll never be going back into that dump.

"It wasn't just Englishmen who died for our freedom, Irish fighters died too."
