Barber in court accused of raping man in Belfast
A 40-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with carrying out a rape in Belfast.
George William Garland is accused of attacking a male in Ravenhill Avenue on Monday.
Garland, of Global Crescent in the city, appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday on charges of rape, sexual assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The defendant, whose occupation was listed as a barber, did not seek bail.
No further details of the alleged assault were disclosed during the brief hearing.
Deputy District Judge Peter Prenter remanded Garland in custody to appear again by video-link in four weeks' time.
