The comedian Richard Osman took a swipe at the age of Northern Ireland students taking part in BBC's University Challenge.

The first ever University of Ulster team progressed to the quarter-finals of the long-running quiz show on Monday evening.

The team of Matt Milliken,  Iain Jack, Kate Ritchie and Cathal McDaid, with an average age of 50 were also the oldest in the competition.

The comedian and co-host of BBC quiz show Pointless, Richard Osman, was one of the many to take a swipe at the age of the team on social media.
