Belfast children draw on Titanic history
Children in East Belfast have been joining in Titanic-mania sweeping the city as part of a move to remove contentious wall murals in the area.
Renowned artist Ross Wilson has been offering artistic inspiration and guidance to children taking part in themed art classes which have been designed to raise awareness of the city’s industrial heritage.
The Titanic story drawings are just the latest in a series of initiatives which began with the replacement of the wall murals and are being created at the Newtownards Road’s Ballymac Centre.
Mervyn Gibson of the East Belfast Partnership said the re-imaging project was helping local communities celebrate the ship building tradition which was an “integral part of daily life for generations who lived in this part of the city”.
