A man who is thought to have injected heroin in Belfast city centre has been brought to hospital.

At around 7.15pm yesterday four people caught the attention of officers on patrol close to College Street Mews. They detained three of the men, searched them, and they were later released.

However, shocked onlookers watched as the fourth man staggered around the street shouting and running head-first into shop fronts. He was subdued by police before being taken away in an ambulance.

One woman who works in a nearby cafe said: "It's wild, they are out here every day. Something has to be done before people are too afraid to come around anymore.

"I have been working here for almost 10 years now and I have never seen it this bad."
