Budget airline easyJet has launched an investigation after a collision between one of its planes and a runway vehicle at Belfast International Airport yesterday.

Passengers had to be taken off the flight to Malaga following the incident.

"We can confirm the flight has been delayed as a result of damage sustained from a pushback tug," easyJet said.

"All passengers disembarked normally and they have been provided with refreshment vouchers and support from our ground staff in Belfast International Airport.

"A replacement crew and aircraft will operate the flight to Malaga.

"We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused.

"We have launched an urgent investigation with our ground handling provider at Belfast Airport."

Belfast International Airport remained open and ground handling company Swissport added it was working with the airline operators to conduct an investigation.
