Police said an arson attack on a Belfast home was reckless and a threat to life.

The fire at a house in Divismore Park was reported at around 3am on Saturday.

Police and the Fire Service attended and they managed to contain the fire to the front door and hallway. There was no one in the house at the time.

“This was a reckless act, which we are investigating as arson with intent to endanger life," said Detective Inspector Kerry Brennan.

"If you have information which could assist our investigation, or if you were in the area prior to, or around the time it was reported to us and saw any suspicious activity, including persons or cars, please call detectives at Musgrave on 101, quoting reference number 255 of 20/07/19.

"Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime."
