Belfast man (63) faces child pornography trial
A 63-year-old man is to stand trial accused of having child pornography and breaching a sexual offences prevention order.
William McWatters appeared before Belfast Magistrates Court yesterday to determine if he has a case to answer. The accused, with an address at Eglantine Avenue in the city, faces four charges.
Along with allegedly possessing an indecent image of a child, he is charged with having extreme pornographic images. A further count relates to claims that he associated with a child aged under 16 in breach of the sexual offences prevention order. The alleged offences were committed in 2012.
Backing prosecution submissions that a prima facie case has been established, District Judge Fiona Bagnall ordered him to be returned for trial at Belfast Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
McWatters was released on continuing bail of £500 until then.
