A Belfast man woke up to find an intruder holding a knife to his throat during a burglary.

At around 4am on Saturday the intruder broke into a house in the Magdala Street area of Belfast.

After holding the knife to the occupant's throat the suspect made off with money and the man's iPhone.

The occupant was not injured but was left very badly shaken by the ordeal.

Detective Sergeant Patrick Conlan appealed to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or anyone who has information that could help police with their enquiries to contact detectives at Musgrave PSNI Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 676 01/09/18.
