Belfast man McCusker denies revenge porn charge

By Paul Higgins

A Belfast man has denied an offence of so-called revenge porn.

On Tuesday appearing on behalf of 34-year-old John Paul McCusker at Antrim Magistrates Court, defence barrister Aaron Thompson confirmed he was entering not guilty pleas to both counts.

McCusker, from Colinmill in Dunmurry, is charged with disclosing a private sexual image without the complainants consent "and with the intention of causing her distress" on February 25 and accused of "pursuing a course of conduct which amounted to the harassment" of the same woman two days later.

Mr Thompson revealed the charge of revenge porn arose over an allegation that McCusker took a screen shot from a video recording.

He further revealed there may be “some kind of consent” given within that recording so he would be seeking to consult with the investigating police officer to arrange a viewing of the material.

Freeing McCusker in continuing bail, District Judge Peter King said he would review the case on November 21 but warned that “it maybe sometime before we have a contest.”
