Belfast man 'shaken' in gun attack on home - example of crime gangs exerting control, say police

A Northern Ireland man in his 30s has been left badly shaken after a gun attack on his home.

Two shots were fired at the door of the Upper Meadow Street home in north Belfast at around 7.30pm on Wednesday, October 11.

Police hit out at the "criminal groups who seek to control communities through fear and violence".

Detective Sergeant Kelly said: “Whilst nobody was injured as a result of this shooting it was a reckless act that could have easily resulted in death or serious injury and yet another example of how criminal groups seek to control communities through fear and violence.

"I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone with any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Musgrave Police Station on 101 quoting reference 1186 of 11/10/17. Information can also be passed anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
