Belfast man skipped trial for holiday in Spain
A man who jetted off to the sun just as his week-long trial was about to end has been convicted of wounding a teenager in a drunken row two years ago.
The Belfast Crown Court jury, which wasn't told why Kyle David Moorehead (22) from Malton Drive, Belfast, initially went missing on Tuesday, took less than an hour to unanimously convict him in his absence.
It is understood that Moorehead had planned the holiday in Spain long before the start of his trial, but did not mention it.
Moorehead, also faces sentencing for smashing a bottle over his victim's head, and for skipping bail and going on the run.
It is understood he plans to return and give himself up.
