Belfast man stole £2k worth of football kits
A Belfast man was convicted today of stealing more than £2,000 worth of football kits from a sports store.
Liam Joseph Shortt admitted carrying out the theft at Sports Direct last month.
The 22-year-old, of Bruslee Way, appeared before the city's Magistrates Court accused of stealing kits to the total value of £2,200 on June 3.
When the charge was put to Shortt the guilty plea was confirmed.
No further details were disclosed during the brief hearing.
But ordering a pre-sentence report, Deputy District Judge Anne Marshall said: "It's a significant amount of kits and a significant record.
"He's in some trouble, so he needs to cooperate fully with probation."
Shortt is due back in court for sentencing in four weeks time.
