Belfast pensioner to stand trial accused of child sex attacks in 1990s
A Belfast pensioner has been returned for trial charged with sex attacks on three different children nearly 20 years ago.
The 68-year-old faces a total of five counts of indecent assault on a female child.
He cannot be named to ensure none of the alleged victims are identified.
The accused appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court today for a hearing to establish whether he has a case to answer.
The charges against him relate to alleged assaults committed at locations in the city between August 1996 and June 1997.
A prosecution lawyer submitted that a prima facie case has been established against the man.
No defence evidence or witnesses were called at this stage in the proceedings.
A judge agreed to have the accused sent for trial at Belfast Crown Court on a date to be fixed.
He was released on continuing bail until that hearing begins.
