Belfast resident in critical condition after men smash windows and attack him

A 58-year-old man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was attacked by two males outside his Belfast home.

It is believed the men smashed windows at the house, in Linfield Avenue, before the assault and that they were armed with a hammer and another unknown object.

The incident took place at about 9.30pm on Saturday and detectives are appealing for information while the victim remains in hospital.

It is yet to be established whether his condition is as a direct result of the assault.

One of the attackers is described as being in his mid 20s, approximately 5'11" tall, and was wearing a dark tracksuit hooded top and a scarf over his face.

The second man is described as being aged in his mid 20s, approximately 5'9" tall, and was wearing a light tracksuit hooded top and dark bottoms. It is believed they made off in the direction of Sandy Row.
