A man was shot in both legs in the Ardmonagh Parade area of west Belfast on Friday night.

Police said the paramilitary-style shooting happened at around 10pm.

The 21-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

Detective Inspector Mark McHaffie said he is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or anyone who has information to contact detectives at Reactive and Organised Crime at Musgrave PSNI station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 1178 06/01/17. 

Alternatively they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
