Belfast shops fined over cigarette sales to under 18s

Two Belfast shopkeepers have been fined a total of £650 for selling cigarettes to people under the age of 18.

Gary Toan, trading as Gary's Vivo in Matchet Street in the Shankill area, was fined £350 for an offence committed on August 21, 2013.

Jim Maguire, of Maguire's Garage on the Falls Road, was fined £300 for a similar offence, committed on June 22 last year.

 Both defendants were also ordered to pay £69 each in costs. The prosecutions were brought by Belfast City Council.
