A man was last night in a critical condition in hospital following a stabbing in west Belfast.
The 51-year-old is understood to have been knifed in the stomach at a house in Vere Foster Walk at around 4am on Saturday.
He then made his way to Springfield Close on foot before emergency services were contacted.
Sinn Fein councillor Steven Corr said he was worried about the growing number of violent crimes in the area, not just knife crime.
"I am concerned about the growing levels of violence that are associated with rows and people going overboard," he said.
"Incidents in the early hours of the morning, for example. It is a growing concern, this willingness to use violence."
Mr Corr said the victim is well-known locally and everyone hoped he would make a recovery.
Last night a spokesman for the Belfast Trust said the man remained in a critical condition.
