Belfast teenager is All-Ireland volunteer
Belfast teenager Molly Gilmartin has been crowned All-Ireland Youth Volunteer of the Year.
The 18-year-old Victoria College student has been honoured with the 2012 title for her dedication to Action Cancer over the past six years, raising many thousands of pounds for the charity and even founding its annual concert.
Molly’s involvement in the charity has brought her to far flung places around the world, including India, where she addressed the World Educational Conference in Delhi.
Starting her fundraising efforts through her Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award, Molly told the BBC: "As you get more and more involved with a charity, then you get more passionate for its cause. It is so rewarding to work really hard for a charity when you really believe in the cause.”
