Belfast Telegraph named Daily Newspaper of the Year at Regional Press Awards
The Belfast Telegraph has been named the Daily/Sunday Newspaper of the Year with a circulation above 15,000.
The Telegraph received the award at the Regional Press Awards ceremony at London's Savoy Place.
Highly commended in the same category was the Eastern Daily Press.
Organisers of the awards, the UK Society of Editors said that the Belfast Telegraph had been recognised for a "truly exceptional year".
“The paper prides itself as Northern Ireland’s leading daily in print and online, with an outstanding 148-year reputation for impartial, in depth coverage," a spokesperson said.

"Selling across the sectarian and political divides to unionists and nationalists, Catholics and Protestants, this paper demands to be read. Winner of Daily/Sunday Newspaper of the Year above 15,000 circulation is the Belfast Telegraph.”
Belfast Telegraph Editor Gail Walker said she was "delighted" with the win.
Tele journalists were also recognised for their achievements at the ceremony.
Sports reporter Gareth Hanna was highly commended in the Digital Live Sports Reporter category and Sunday Life sports editor Paul Ferguson was highly commended in the Weekly Sports Journalist category.
