Belfast Telegraph World Cup project scores big with pupils
Today concludes the hugely popular Belfast Telegraph Newspapers In Education Project which this term was themed on the World Cup.
Thousands of pupils across the province got involved, learning about the various teams and the host country Russia, while improving their literacy and numeracy.
Running three times per year, Newspapers In Education provides a fun, interactive learning experience for Key Stage 2 pupils and in September will be themed on World War I, which ended 100 years ago.
Among those taking part was Tempo Primary School.
The school said: "We have been learning about the World Cup 2018 and about famous players and their lives. Our favourite part has been completing the interesting activities in the booklets and designing the football kits.
"We also enjoyed cutting our favourite players from the Belfast Telegraph. We really enjoyed learning about famous Russians including Leo Tolstoy.
"It was also challenging to find headlines and products, but fun at the same time.
"One of the players we learned about was Cristiano Ronaldo, and it was very interesting.
"The stadiums in the newspaper were very cool and we all hope to go there some day."
