Belfast woman guilty of £62k benefit fraud
A woman has been convicted at Belfast Magistrates' Court for claiming £62,774 benefits she was not entitled to.
Susan Elwood (40) of Albertville Drive, Belfast claimed Employment and Support Allowance, Housing Benefit and Disability Living Allowance totalling £62,774 while failing to declare she was living with a partner.
She was given a two year prison sentence suspended for two years.
The fraud was uncovered following an investigation by the Department for Communities.
She is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Department.
Suspected benefit fraud can be reported to the Department for Communities anonymously.
