Bellaghy security alert declared 'elaborate hoax'


A security alert in Bellaghy following the discovery of a suspicious object has been declared an 'elaborate hoax'.

The army bomb squad were sent to the scene in the Co Londonderry village.

Inspector Andy Archibald confirmed that the security alert at Ballynease Road in Bellaghy has now ended.

 A suspicious object was examined by army bomb experts and has been declared a hoax.

The Ballynease Road had been closed between Tamlaghduff Park and Ballyscullion Lane.

The Ballymacombs Road had been closed at its junction with Tamlaghduff Park.

 All roads have been re-opened.
