Benefits cheat has sentence cut
A man convicted of claiming £21,798 in benefits he was not entitled to has had his sentence reduced. William McKeown (69), of Laghey Corner, Dungannon, claimed Pension Credit and Housing Benefit of £21,798 while failing to declare capital.
He was convicted in August and given a three month prison sentence. Following a sentencing appeal, McKeown was given a two year suspended prison sentence. McKeown is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained.
