Billionaire Quinn’s daughter ties knot in low key bash
It was low key and bore no resemblance to any wedding from the Celtic Tiger era.
The Quinn family have always kept a low profile and it was no different yesterday as Fermanagh businessman Sean Quinn saw a second daughter married.
Apart from the odd Mercedes and Range Rover, most of the cars parked along the rural roadside outside St Mary's Church on the outskirts of Belturbet, Co Cavan, were unremarkable, the kind seen at any country wedding.
If they had looked a little closer they might have spotted that the groom, Dubliner Stephen Kenny, glided up in a sleek black Mercedes CLS 63 AMG.
But by the time the bridesmaids and the bride and father- of-the-bride pulled up to the church door in a matching vintage Bentley and Rolls Royce, it was obvious that this was indeed no ordinary affair.
And what else would you expect when the bride in question is Aoife Quinn, who is on Ireland's young rich list and the father of the bride is Mr Quinn (62), once listed in Forbes magazine as the 164th wealthiest person on the planet.
In what has been an ‘annus horribilis' for the once multi- billionaire business magnate, who now owes an estimated €4bn to banks, yesterday the proud father let Lady Luck smile on his fourth child.
A serious-faced Quinn gave a single wave to the only Press photographer in the gateway of the church as the car drove past.
He posed briefly with his elegant 28-year-old daughter in the doorway of the church.
After the ceremony, the estimated 150 guests quickly dispersed to the nearby Slieve Russell Hotel for the wedding reception.
