Black ice warning after fatal crash

Motorists have been warned to be aware of black ice on the road as police confirmed a teenager was killed in a car crash.

Odhran McGreevy, 17, from the Loughinisland area, was driving a blue Renault Megane which collided with a blue BMW on the Newcastle Road in Seaford, near Ballynahinch, in Co Down, shortly after 10pm.

Two people in the second car, a woman in her 40s and a man in his 30s, were taken to hospital. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have appealed for witnesses.

Elsewhere, the PSNI said it is attending eight road accidents in the Lisburn area caused by the black ice.

A spokeswoman advised motorists to drive with extra care and reduce their speed.

Meanwhile a woman was taken to hospital after her Renault Clio collided with a lorry on the A1 at Banbridge at around 7am. Her injuries are not life-threatening.
