The two wallabies that went missing in Co Down last week have been found dead.
The marsupials – a mother and baby – went missing from land at a privately-owned house on knocksticken Road, outside Clough, last Friday.
The owner, who does not wish to be named, said the animals escaped through an open gate.
The mother and her baby, which was in her pouch, were found yesterday morning close to where they went missing.
The owner said the native Australian animals were discovered after they became trapped between a wallspace and tank next to their enclosure.
He spoke of his sadness, but also said he was relieved.
"We are sad but relieved the search is over. I still have three adults plus a joey," he said.
A police spokesman added: "The owner would like to thank everyone who looked for them."
Alliance councillor Patrick Clarke added: "I am saddened to hear this news. I know this family and they take great pride and care in looking after these animals."
