Body find investigation

Police are continuing to appeal for information after last week's death of a man in Holywood.

The body of the man, believed to be in his 50s, was discovered in a flat at Sullivan Close, shortly before 4.15pm last Wednesday (June 23).

Initial inquiries suggested there were suspicious circumstances, but so far, post mortem results have proved to be inconclusive.

Therefore, police investigations into the cause of death are continuing.

North Down MLA Peter Weir said he was “deeply saddened and disturbed” to hear of the death and that it had “shocked the whole Holywood community”.

“Although very little information has been released, there is concern that the death is suspicious and it may be quite a violent death,” he said.

“While it would be wrong to speculate, I believe it is vital that we give all the assistance that we can to the police investigating this dreadful occurrence.

“I would urge anyone who has any knowledge of or information around this death to take it immediately to Holywood PSNI.”

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact detectives by calling 0845 600 8000.

Alternatively, information can be passed anonymously to the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
