Body found in missing person search

A body has been discovered by police searching for a man missing for almost three weeks

Stephen Buchanan, from Ballycarry, Co Antrim, had been out cycling when he vanished on Wednesday, September 26, in the Groomsport/Millisle area.

Police in Larne investigating his disappearance of the 56-year-old recovered a body in the upper reservoir on the Woodburn Road, Carrickfergus, on Saturday evening.

A PSNI spokeswoman said investigations to confirm the identity of the remains and a cause of death are ongoing.

"Police are continuing to search for a black and orange Canondale bicycle and other cycling equipment that Stephen used and police would appeal to anyone who recovers these or knows of there whereabouts to contact detectives in Larne," she added.
