Body found on Belfast street

Police have launched an investigation after a body was found on a residential street in north Belfast.

It is understood that the body of a man was found by two people who were driving along Orient Gardens, off the Cliftonville Road shortly after 10pm on Wednesday.

PSNI officers have cordoned off the area.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Police are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at Orient Gardens, Belfast.”

DUP councillor Dale Pankhurst added: “I am shocked and saddened to hear that a body has been found in the Orient Gardens area of Cliftonville this evening. While investigations are in an early phase, I would encourage anyone with any information to contact the police.”
