Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in east Belfast.

They are appealing for anyone who noticed anything suspicious in the Cloghan Park area, off Upper Newtownards Road, on Sunday to get in contact with them on their 101 number.

UUP councillor Jim Rodgers said: "My thoughts and prayers are with this man's family and I would urge anyone who knows anything about what might have caused his death to get in touch with police."

DUP councillor Tom Haire said the man's body was found in a very quiet location opposite Stormont. He said: "While we don't know the circumstances, it's not the sort of place you expect something like this to happen, but I urge anyone who might be able to help police with their investigation to get in contact as soon as possible."

Police have released no further information.
