Body of missing Co Tyrone woman found

The body of missing Co Tyrone woman Lisa McGowan has been found almost a fortnight after her disappearance.

The 44-year-old was discovered less than two miles from her home in Drumquin on Sunday night.

Her family thanked the public for their support in a statement posted on a Facebook page - setup to help find her.

"On behalf of family and friends, we would like to inform you that Lisa was found late last night," it said.

"Sadly Lisa is no longer with us. Paddy and Lisa's family want to thank everyone for their prayers and support.

"We have been overwhelmed by all the generosity and kindness given at this very difficult time."

Lisa's husband Paddy had made an emotional appeal for help in the search for his beloved wife.

Across Tyrone, Fermanagh and Donegal, communities had gathered together to hunt for the missing mum.

Lisa had been last seen at her home address in the Drumquin area on Monday July 8 at 10.30pm.

Police believe she went missing from her home after 1.30pm the next day.
