Irish police in Co Monaghan have recovered a body of a man swept away by flood water.

The victim, 70-year-old Ivan Vaughan from Caledon in Co Tyrone, was found at about 11:25am at Corraghdown in Glaslough.

A Garda spokesperson said it appeared the man's car got stuck in flooding and when the driver got out he was swept away.

The body was found about 10 metres from his vehicle.

Mr Vaughan, a former showband singer, was reportedly returning from a gig on Sunday night when the tragedy happened.
