Body of woman found in her Carrickfergus home

By Claire Williamson

A mother-of-two has been found dead at her home in Carrickfergus.

Police have said they were examining the circumstances surrounding the death of the woman who was believed to be in her early 50s.

She was named locally as Mandy Noble.

Her body was discovered in the Sandes Court area yesterday morning.

Local reports suggested that Ms Noble, who lived alone, had not enjoyed good health for a number of years and had difficulty walking. She had a son and a daughter who were in their mid to late 20s.

Carrickfergus DUP MLA David Hilditch knew Ms Noble.

He said: "I extend my sympathy to her family. It's very, very sad.

"I've known Mandy for many years and it's come as a great shock to learn of her death."

A spokesman for the PSNI said officers were "examining the circumstances surrounding the death". He added: "Cause of death has not yet been determined and a post mortem examination is due to be carried out."
