A body recovered from the River Lagan on Friday afternoon is believed to be that of missing man Geng Feng Shi.
Police said a formal identification process had yet to take place but the family of Mr Shi had been informed.
The 23-year-old was last seen at 7am on March 4 crossing the junction of Oxford Street with May Street in Belfast city centre.
Mr Shi's mother contacted the PSNI from China when his regular contact with her stopped
Police recovered the body shortly after midday on Friday.
Detective Chief Inspector Gary Reid Said: “We would like to extend our sympathies to the Shi family at this sad time. I would also like to extend my thanks to all those who assisted in the search operation."
