Scientists are seeking the public's help in tracking some of our rarest mammals.

Queen's University Belfast is trying to uncover the lives of Irish hare, pine martens and red squirrels early in the new year.

Dr Neil Reid is launching a long-term monitoring programme of the Irish hare at 12 sites across Northern Ireland, using remote cameras which will be set up for one week to help to calculate how many there are in a given area.

He is appealing for help to find the best places to track the hares. If you can help, contact him at 028 9097 2746 or email neil.reid@qub.ac.uk
