A book charting the life of a priest who worked for peace and reconciliation in Northern Ireland has been launched.

Unity Pilgrim: The Life Of Fr Gerry Reynolds, tells the story of the redemptorist cleric who died aged 80 in November 2015.

His life, which took him to Jerusalem and the Far East, is the subject of the new work by Dr Gladys Ganiel.

Fr Reynolds was reluctant to write his own story, but his friends Rev Dr Ken Newell and Val Newell persuaded him to work with Dr Ganiel.

Before his death she had a series of meetings with Fr Reynolds, who gave her access to his diaries and other writings. After he died she continued work on the book, interviewing family members, friends and redemptorist brothers.

The book was launched in Clonard Church last night by Rev Newell.
