Botanic Gardens incident: Teenage girl and man charged over attacks

A teenage girl and a man have been charged by police over assaults in Botanic Gardens in south Belfast.

Police received reports of assaults in the area shortly before 4pm on Thursday afternoon.

A 25-year-old man has since been charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault on police.

He was due to appear at Belfast Magistrates' Court on Friday.

Earlier, a 17-year-old girl was charged with four counts of common assault.

As is normal procedure charges are reviewed by the PPS.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
