Bowtown games kick off

The new multi-use games area (MUGA) on the Bowtown estate has had its official opening.

Among those to welcome the new facility was Alderman Jim Shannon, who attended the unveiling. He said this was “another progressive step in the future of the estate.

“I would like to pay credit and give due to the hard work that is done. The community hosts weekly events for elderly people and the intensive youth programmes are there all the year round. The new MUGA pitch was being well used on the day with Ards Youth FC running a tournament and young children energetically kicking the ball about the pitch with a well fenced off area.

“Another stage in the life of the Bowtown Estate has taken place sponsored by Ards Borough Council and supported by the Housing Executive, PSNI and other bodies. Well done to everyone involved.

“The kids’ smiles make it all worthwhile.”
