Boy (16) arrested after man stabbed in north Belfast

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested following a stabbing incident in north Belfast.

It happened in the Duncairn Parade area on Thursday evening.

At around 7.10pm police received a report that a 20-year-old man had been stabbed in a residential premises.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.

The 16-year-old was arrested at around 8.15pm in the Deerpark Road area of north Belfast and remains in custody assisting police with their enquiries.

Detective Constable Mark Gillespie said: "I would ask anyone who knows anything about this assault to contact CID at Antrim Road Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
