Boy (16) arrested over Derry Carnhill assault of woman

Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy over an assault which left a woman with serious head injuries in Londonderry on Saturday.

The woman, aged in her 20s, was found unconscious at the bottom of stairs below her second floor home in the Carnhill estate in the early hours of Saturday. Police said she had been attacked by a number of men.

The teenage boy was arrested on Tuesday and questioned under suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, theft, criminal damage, threats to kill and possession of an offensive weapon.

He is currently in police custody assisting officers with their enquiries.
