Boy, 9, critically ill after being knocked down

A nine-year-old boy has been left critically ill after being knocked down, police have said.

The PSNI said the accident happened on the Glenravel Road in Ballymena, Co Antrim on Saturday.

A black Toyota Avensis car was involved in the incident as the boy walked on the road at about 5pm, police said.

The driver has spoken to investigating officers and they appealed for witnesses to contact them.

The PSNI said the boy was in hospital in intensive care.
