Breakfast star Bill Turnbull to give auction a real buzz

By Angela Rainey

Newly retired BBC Breakfast presenter Bill Turnbull will create a real buzz at a charity beekeepers' auction in Antrim next month.

Organised by Susie and John Hill of the Ulster Beekeepers' Association, Mr Turnbull will host the auction at a gala dinner for 200 guests in the Dunadry Hotel on March 12.

Many of the guests will also be attending a two-day conference at nearby Greenmount College and will enjoy a drinks reception and three-course meal as part of the evening.

Later on they can bid at a silent auction for art works and a weekend getaway to Donegal, then for six undisclosed items, auctioned by Mr Turnbull.

The evening hopes to raise £10,000 for Bees for Development, a charity that promotes beekeeping, sustainability and bio-diversity for people in Africa.

Veteran broadcaster Bill is one of the UK's best known beekeepers, having written a book on the subject. He is also president of the Institute of NI Beekeepers

Tickets cost £40 and some are still available from or by ringing 07585 950703.
