Brian Kennedy is recovering well following surgery in London to remove a cancerous tumour, his spokesperson said.
The 52-year-old Belfast singer has been battling cancer for two years and had said he was facing an eight-hour procedure.
A spokesperson confirmed that the surgery had been a success, saying: "The fantastic news is that the hospital confirmed that they got all the cancer tumour out."
On Thursday the singer tweeted thanks to Aer Lingus for their care on his flight home.
"From check in, then a much needed pause in the lounge and especially when it came to sitting on the plane sorta sideways so soon after major surgery. Phew!"
