British warship on course for Belfast
A Royal Navy ship which has recently completed a major refit is making Belfast one of her first ports of call before getting ready to join worldwide operations.
HMS Northumberland, a type 23 frigate, was in the headlines when patrolling the Horn of Africa protecting shipping from piracy.
The ship was among the first to receive the most advanced sonar in the world to help track submarines.
The public will be given a chance to see round the ship on Saturday and Sunday (March 17 and 8) between noon and 4pm when she is berthed in Belfast.
HMS Northumberland will sail into Belfast Lough on Friday, March 16 and is expected to leave the following Monday to continue sea trials.
