Brolly's GAA rant goes viral

SOUTH Belfast's very own Mr GAA has become an internet sensation after a video of him slating the Tyrone GAA team received over 75,000 hits on YouTube and was shared widely across social media.

Joe Brolly, the former Derry star and a coach of underage teams at St Brigid's GAC on the Malone Road, was working as a pundit for RTE when he exploded into an scathing post-match critique of the Tyrone team.

The outburst, in which he branded Mickey Harte's team a "disgrace", centered on a tackle by Tyrone player Sean Cavanagh who brought down Monaghan's Conor McManus in a rugby style tackle as he broke through on goal.

"I see Mickey Harte smiling and jumping up and down at the end like they achieved. I'll tell you what, they achieved something absolutely rotten," he fumed.

The Belfast barrister later defended the rant saying that it had brought cynical-fouling into the spotlight.
