Burglaries in Down and Armagh 'could be connected'

Police believe a spate of burglaries in south Armagh and Co Down may be linked.

There were eight break-ins in the Whitecross, Camlough, Mayobridge, Newry, Banbridge and Ballynahinch areas over the weekend.

At around 10.10pm on Friday, a building on Newcastle Road in Ballynahinch was broken into.

There were four burglaries on Saturday.

They happened on Carnacally Road in Mayobridge between 6.15am and 4pm, on Armagh Road in Newry between 7am and 2pm, on Aughnacloy Road in Banbridge between 10am and 1pm, and on Greenan Road in Newry between 2.30pm and 3.30pm.

There were three more on Sunday.

They happened on Main Street in Camlough between 8pm on the previous night and 8am the next morning, on Dublin Road in Newry between 3.30pm and 6pm, and on Drummond Road in Whitecross before 6pm.
