Burglars beat man with hammer

A man in his 20s has been treated in hospital after being attacked during an aggravated burglary in Larne.

The victim was injured during an incident carried out by two men, one of whom hit him with a hammer, in the Bank Road area of the Co Antrim town on Tuesday night.

Shortly after 11pm, police received reports that the men forced their way into the house and assaulted the resident. The victim required hospital treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.

One of the men is described as being approximately 6ft 2in tall, of medium build and the other is described as being taller and also of medium build. Both were wearing dark clothing.
