Police have issued a stern warning after a car was left a mangled wreck by a suspected drink-driver in Dungannon.

The car came off the road at the Stangmore Roundabout just after 1am and a hit a tree.

Posting on social media, PSNI Dungannon and South Tyrone said officers arrived at the scene looking for "dead bodies" and blamed the crash on "another selfish drunk".

"To give you an idea of how far embedded into the roundabout it is, take a look to the right and you’ll see our car - that’s the nearest bit of road," they said.

"Somehow no one died in this."

One person was arrested for drink driving offences.

"You know someone drink driving? Tell us - we are constantly arresting drink drivers through detections on patrol and from yourselves spotting them and letting us know," police said.

"These potential killers need removed from our roads."
